CLIN KUP is a remodeling / branding project at the backstreet of a cozy neighborhood, Jayang-dong. ‘Clean Cup’ is a term often used to describe coffee free of taints and defects. ‘Linking’ as linking the satisfaction of taste and the sense of space put together created CLIN KUP.

As our client was born and raised in Jayang-dong, he dreamed of a space for his neighbors to stop by and relax. Given only 355 square feet, the design is focused on providing visitors with a clear circulation but also comfortable seating arrangements. To deceive visitors as if they were in a larger space, the main counter is placed diagonally along the path to the seating.

The display wall, integrated with the storage space, is fixed on the left wall. This composition allows for a smooth transition from the entrance to the barista as it becomes a background of the moment their drinks are getting made.

Searching for the most suitable name, logo, signage, vegetation, furniture, lighting and others sometimes make design exhausting. It disappoints us when we have no other choice but to only choose the path that comes in the budget. Not perfection but finding the balance within these factors is the manner to which whom engages with the space.
